ANZ receives industry honor for implementing a payments solution to complement regional expansion

New York – Fundtech, a market leader in global transaction banking solutions, is proud to announce that ANZ has received Celent’s prestigious Model Bank Award in the category of Payments Innovation. The award recognizes the implementation of leading banking solutions that result in a clear and sustainable impact on business, improving sales or services, reducing risks or costs, and improving business processes for banks and their customers. ANZ was selected for this honor from over 70 nominations for Celent Model Bank Awards.

ANZ received Celent’s Model Bank Award for the technology innovations related to its journey toward becoming a super regional bank. Starting in 2008, the bank began to expand its network both organically and via investments and acquisitions throughout the Asia Pacific region, adding branches and new countries of operation. As a key element supporting its super regional strategy, ANZ chose Fundtech to support the development of a global payments hub solution to process high-value, international and cross-border payments. Using the solution, ANZ has been able to cost-effectively scale the system as its business has grown. Today, it has centralized and automated its payments operations across ten countries in the region.

“Fundtech congratulates ANZ for having the vision to transform itself into recognized leader in the Asia Pacific region,” says Isaac Yaniv, Executive Vice President, Global Payments, at Fundtech. “We are honored to have played a role in ANZ’s success.”

According to Gareth Lodge, Senior Analyst at Celent: “The Model Bank Awards recognize how banks are using technology to change the face of banking. These banks should serve as an inspiration to others looking for strong examples of best practice implementation that will have a truly meaningful impact on business results and the industry overall. The entry from ANZ clearly demonstrated this.”
